Intergenerational Education Time

Intergenerational Education Time

Intergenerational Education Time is for children Pre-K to 6th grade. Each Sunday the children hear the story and then rotate into aroom to work on an activity in the form of  food or games. Each room has a lesson and is hands on! We start our gathering time with all the children to praise and pray. Interested? Contact the office at 402-721-6158

Vacation Bible School

VBS is our biggest event during the summer, held in June.  It is a cooperative event with other Fremont churches for children ages 1st-6th grade.  They will learn through hands-on experiences.  They will sing, dance, play games, make snacks, have an art project and learn about Jesus’ love.  Your summer just isn’t complete without it!  Planning begins in October.  Teens and Adults are welcome. Contact office 402-721-6158.

Salem Confirmation Program

The Confirmation program is for those students in 7th and 8th grade. It is led by Pastor Shari Schwedhelm.  We have other lay members who assist with these instructions as well.  It is good for students to see how others in the faith community continue in their faith journey and relationship with God.

The Students are required to attend worship and participate in it as acolytes, ushers and lesson readers.  They are also required to attend Sunday school classes, Wednesday night catechism classes, do service and outreach projects, faith life challenges and participate in the youth group.  We are using the Here We Stand curriculum for both Sunday morning and Wednesday confirmation classes.  Sunday School is at 9:45 am and  Wednesday night confirmation class is at 6:30 pm.

We start the Confirmation program  each year in September. The Sunday School lessons teach them the stories of the Bible and how they can apply these teachings to their lives. The Wednesday night catechism classes teach them the basics of what we believe as Lutherans using Luther's Small Catechism.

The 9th grade confirmation students are required to continue their attendance in worship and participate as acolytes, ushers, and lesson readers.  They will work on a confirmation project and write a paper on their faith journey so far and their relationship with God using what they have learned in the Sunday School and Confirmation classes.  Those students who complete these classes, reaffirm their baptism on Reformation Sunday in the fall of their 9th grade year.
